Washington, Trump’s second word for business and the world is your guide for that
According to British officials, UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves had its first formal discussion with US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent on Friday, both finance ministers agreed that there was a “landing zone” for bilateral trade agreements.
Roves has opened the door to Britain that cars in the United States have cut off its tariffs with agriculture and seafood products, as he is trying to persuade the Trump administration to export the UK export.
Besent is seen as a relatively dovish personality within the Starmar government, but there is a recognition that in the end of the Oval Office, the decision was taken at the Oval Office. The United States has imposed 10 percent baseline tariffs on UK exports and 25 percent on cars and steel.
UK officials say, Reeves – who did not meet Besent before traveling to Washington this week – he had a “good discussion” with her US counterpart.
One person briefed about the discussion: “Both think that there is a landing zone for trade agreements but we are still not there. The discussion has become more intense, so it is positive. The discussion will continue.”
The US Treasury immediately responded to any request for comment.
The World Bank and the IMF have been praised by some financial elite in the world for the promise of renovation of free trade and supply in Washington for spring meetings.
IMF Managing Director Crystalina Georgiva says: “She is dealing with very difficult problems, getting the expenditure repurcing, the regulatory environment is more rational and then accepting the war to complete it. And it’s really impressive.”
However, the reeves are less popular at home, the opinion survey has shown that its fatal approval rating has decreased further in recent weeks.
Yugov said this month that only 5 percent of the surveyors said they had a positive view of the Chancellor, with a negative view of 62 percent. -48’s score still presents the lowest rating of Reeves.
Reeves have tried to build relations with the Trump administration this week, indicating that some of its concerns about the global trade system have been established.
Speaking at an event at the British Embassy in Washington on Thursday evening, Reeves argued that additional trade imbalances in the United States should be concerned – highlighting the “challenge” related to the Chinese economy as well as benefits.
“The challenges that Donald Trump’s administration spoke about global trade imbalances is very real and we should solve them,” he said at a function organized by Britain’s ambassador to the United States Lord Peter Mandalson.
Reeves added that this trade imbalance was not always associated with the “transparent policy”.
However, he emphasized at his meeting in Washington that the UK was believing in multilateral dialogues and institutions, not on tariffs on the UK trade war.
