Primark chief resigns after investigation into inappropriate behaviour

The Chief Executive of the Fashion Chain Primark has resigned with an immediate impact after investigating the allegations of inappropriate behavior towards a woman.

Associated British Foods of the Parent Company says that Paul Merchant, who has led a fashion retailer for 16 years, assisted with the “investigation, acknowledged the defects of the trial and acknowledged that the FTSE 100 had dropped below the values ​​expected by the company.”

Merchant’s departure is started by ABF and following an investigation conducted by external lawyers, complaining by a person about his behavior in the social environment.

Merchant did not immediately respond to any request for the comment.

Merchant joined Premark as the Chief Operating Officer in the 21st and became the chief executive the same year, and the founder of the Primark received the reins from Arthur Ryan. He previously worked for retailers including Dibenham, Topsop, River Island and New Look.

He led the European and US expansion of the garment retailer and doubled the number of stores in his tenure.
