President Donald Trump And his administration concluded a major trade agreement with the UK on Thursday, and the week closed the week on weekend, preparing for trade interviews with China.
Details of a specific trade plan with the UK are rare, but the contract holds an existing 10% of tariffs compared to the goods in the UK, at the same time by removing some imported taxes such as steel and car.
“With this agreement, the UK joins the United States, confirming that reciprocity and righteousness is a key and vital principle of international trade,” Trump said on Thursday. “The deal includes billions of dollars of increased market access to US exports, especially in agriculture, dramatically increasing access to American beef, ethanol and almost all of the products produced by our large farmers.”

The agreement is the first historic trade negotiations signed after the day of liberation, when Trump published wide tariffs for several countries on April 2.
The administration later adapted its initial proposal and announced on April 9 that it would immediately impose 145% of the tariff on Chinese goods, reducing reciprocal tariffs to other countries to 90 days to a basic value of 10%. China replied by raising tariffs to US goods to 125%.
Trump also dropped insight into trade negotiations with China, given that the Minister of Finance Scott Beesent was supposed to start trade negotiations with China in Switzerland on Saturday.
“Scott will go to Switzerland, a meeting with China,” Trump told reporters on Thursday at the White House. “And you know, they really want to make an agreement. We can all play games. Who is the first invitation, who did not send them? That doesn’t matter. It’s only important to happen in that room. But I will tell you that China wants to make an agreement. We’ll see how it works.”

Meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister
Trump also doubled because of his interest in spreading the United States during his visit on Tuesday with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Trump regularly said that he wanted Canada to become an American state, and he talked about the acquisition of Greenland and the Panaman channel for security purposes. However, Canada is not open to negotiations, Carney said.
“After meeting with the owners of Canada during the campaign during the last few months, he has not been for sale,” Carney said in the White House. “It will never be sold, but the opportunity is in partnership and what we can build together. We have done so in the past, and part of it, as the president just said, refers to our security, and my government is dedicated to changing steps in our investment in Canadian security and our partnership.”

While Trump admitted that Canada enhances his investment in military security, he said, “Never say never” in response to Canada became the second state.
“I had many, many things that were not feasible and in the end were feasible,” Trump said.

Meeting with a ballet dancer released by a Russian prison
Trump also met a Russian-American ballet dancer in the White House, Ksenia Karelina. Karelina faced a 12 -year -old penalty in the Russian criminal colony for betrayal in 2024, but Trump’s administration arranged her return to the United States during the US Russian replacement of prisoners in April.

“Mr. Trump, I’m so grateful that you brought me home and for the () American government. And I never felt blessed to be an American, and so I’m so happy to be home,” Karelina said in the video published by Trump’s deputy assistant Sebastian Gorka on April 11.
Karelina, a resident of Los Angeles, born in Russia, was arrested in 2024 during a trip to a visit to a family in Jecaterinburg, Russia. The Russian Federal Security Service arrested her after she examined her phone and found a donation to a charity organization with a seat in the US supporting Ukraine.
