“I wanted so much to come here in these first days of the new services that the Church gave me, to convey this mission as Peter’s successor,” Pope said.
He also delivered a message to young Catholics in connection with vocation, saying, “Don’t be afraid! Welcome to the call of the Church and Christ Lord!”

“Some Virgin Mary, whose whole life has been the answer to the Lord’s call, always follows us in the monitoring of Jesus,” he said.
Pope Leo also appealed to “more war” during addressing those gathered at St. Peter’s Square. He also called for an “authentic and lasting” peace in Ukraine, as well as a truce in Gaza and the release of all the hostages held by Hamas.
The Pope continued to say that he was grateful for the ceasefire that was proclaimed between India and Pakistan, adding that he prayed for God to approve the “miracle of peace” to the world.
