The representative declined to provide any information about the suspect’s identity and did not say whether he is also a resident of the Roosevelt Hotel migrant shelter. But according to 1010 WINS, the suspect knows the girl and her mother.

The radio station reported that after the alleged groping, the girl was taken to Bellevue, a hospital in Manhattan.

Called by some the “modern Ellis Island,” the Roosevelt Hotel was just that turned into a shelter for migrants and a processing center by New York City in May 2023 amid a surge in migrants flocking to the city. The hotel became the epicenter of much of New York’s migrant gang activity, resulting in an increase in violence and crime in the area.

New York police have not said whether the suspect they are looking for is a member of a notorious Venezuelan gang The Aragua train or any other gang. Tren de Aragua was very present near the hotel.

On December 5, 17-year-old Yeremi Colino, allegedly a member of the “Diablos de la 42” (Devils of 42nd Street) gang linked to Tren de Aragua, was stabbed to death during what is believed to be a conflict with a rival gang.

Another migrant, 18-year-old Alan Magalles Bello, was also stabbed along with Colin but survived.
