Pat McAfee torches Colts following bad loss to Giants, elimination from playoff hunt

Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee trashed his old team Sunday after watching them get eliminated from playoff contention in a loss to the New York Giants.

Indianapolis had three turnovers and allowed four Drew Lock touchdown passes in a 45-33 loss. The Colts fell to 7-9 on the season and are officially out of contention.

McAfee wrote a scathing fast at X, criticizing the organization, ripping off those who tried to “boo him out of town” and announcing he would not be renewing his season tickets.

“A blind person could see the red flags on this team.. Questions about work ethic, NEVER happen to good teams.. Questions about commitment to preparation, NEVER happen to good teams.. Being late for meetings, NEVER happen to good teams. .Late to/ skipping treatment, NEVER happens to good teams.. Franchise QB (Anthony Richardson) pulled out of the game.. on 3rd down.. into the red zone.. because he was tired… NEVER HAPPENED in NFL history,” McAfee wrote.

“That’s literally the only thing you need to say to somebody (who knows ball) and they’ll tell you everything about this team…”

He wrote that if the franchise quarterback left in the middle of a game because he was tired, the “instant response” would be that the team had “no chance.”

“And to no one’s surprise.. that was the response of everyone who has ever played/coached the game, but.. Colts blogs and fans who have followed the Colts since 2020 and newer knew better than anyone… They started attacking me personally and trying to run me out of town,” McAfee continued.

“When I said Joe Flacco gives us a better chance to win than AR right off the tap out.. I would say whatever backup QB you have on the roster. That can’t be what the face of your team is doing. . it just can’t be.. and on the larger side of it all, somehow AR thought it was ok to do that.. it’s a culture issue.. it’s an indication of the loser attitude that radiates through the building built by the greats.

“I have no idea how they fix it.. I don’t think it’s like a light switch. “Okay, now we’re going to go pro” but… maybe it is, but what do I know?

“Oh, wait…how is this all going to turn out. I knew it.”

McAfee added that he will not renew his season tickets and hopes the team is back to winning ways.

“As a multi-year season ticket holder (non-renewable).. and someone who has actively, everyday, tried to be an addition to this beautiful city. I hope they become a good franchise again.. this city deserves it.. The OGs in the Colts building deserve it (equipment managers, coaches, ticket sales, PR, sales).. on the other hand the players/coaches in that building deserve whatever happens to them, your unjustified arrogance, laziness and lack of professionalism has led you to MORE ONE early holiday… which most of you were probably hoping for.

“I don’t speak for the city.. and I don’t speak for all former Colts players because I was just a player.. nominated for the HOF 3 times now, but still.. I speak from my perspective.. I’ve never seen a group waste opportunities/ talent/money more than this group.”
