The European Central Bank “is not too worried” by the impact of inflation abroad on the euro zone, the president of the institution Christine Lagarde told CNBC Wednesday.
Asked about the potential effect on Europe if inflation resurfaces in the United States, Lagarde said: “If there is a reigniting of inflation in the United States, it will certainly be a problem for the United States , that’s where the first consequences will be.”
“We are not too worried about the export of inflation in Europe.”
“There will be an interesting phenomenon that we will look at. The exchange rate, for example, will be of interest, and … it may have consequences, but we are certainly interested in seeing the United States grow, because the growth in the United States has always been a favorable factor for the rest of the world,” he added.
