Torrents of Predw Rain released floods in which at least 111 people were killed in the agricultural city where farmers of North Nigeria sell goods from south to the south, the official said on Friday, providing that the number of deaths would grow.
The Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency did not immediately say how much rain fell after midnight on Thursday in the city of Mokwa, Niger, more than 180 miles west of Abuja, the capital of the most populous nation of Africa.

Communities in northern Nigeria experienced long -term dry spells that worsened with climate change and excessive rains that lead to strong floods during a short wet season.

“We have lost many lives, and real estate, our agricultural products. Those who have their storage have lost it,” said Kazeem Muhammad, a resident of Mokwe.
In addition to the 111 confirmed dead, “more bodies were just brought in and just needs to be counted,” said Niger State Agency Agency Agency Agency Ibrahim Aud Husseini for Associated Press on Friday afternoon.
Mokwa, almost 380 kilometers (236 miles) west of Abuja, is the main place for meetings where traders from the south buy beans, onions and other food from farmers in the north.
The Mokwa Community leader Aliki Musa said AP -u that the villagers were not used to such floods. “Water is like a spiritual water that once came, but it’s seasonal,” Musa said. “Now he can (i) come another twenty years before arrival.”
The chairman of the area of the Mokwa Local Administration, Jibril Muregi, told the Local News Premium Times that the construction of the flood control works has long been late.

“This critical infrastructure is key to relieving future flood risks and protecting life and property,” he said.
