Mario Lopez he puts his faith first.
Since being in the spotlight as a child star in the ’90s, Lopez told Fox News Digital how he’s leaned on his faith while working in Hollywood.
“My faith is very important to me and I’m vocal about it… I’m not ashamed,” Lopez, 51, said.

The “Saved by the Bell” actor and his wife Courtney have three children, and he emphasized that faith is an integral part of his family’s foundation.
“My children were raised in a faith-based education. They all go to a Catholic school,” he explained. “It’s something that’s our family’s infrastructure and I’m proud of it.”
“As I got older, I started to build more spiritual muscles.”
Lopez rose to fame in the 90s series “Saved by the Bell” playing the role of AC Slater. The first episode premiered on August 20, 1989 on NBC.

“As I got older, I started building more spiritual muscles,” he told Fox News Digital.

“I think it’s also not a coincidence that things are going really well for me because of that. So I feel very happy and very grateful for that.”
The “Access Hollywood” host has been vocal about his faith and religion, especially on social media.
Recently, Lopez shared a video of himself leaving a “beautiful” Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.

“What a blessed way to end the week here in NYC…” read his Instagram caption.
Lopez often posts quotes related to his religion on your social media, including sending a meaningful message about your priorities in life.

“Once you get to a certain age, all you really want is God, family, stability and peace,” he shared on social media.
In 2018, the Mexican-American actor “was baptized in the same river that Jesus is in…” 10 days before Easter.
While donning a long, white T-shirt and white pants, Lopez announced that he had been baptized in the Jordan River, which he called a “touching” experience at the time.
The video shows Lopez being led into the river by two Catholic priests.

One of the priests can be heard asking Lopez questions, such as “Do you believe in Jesus Christ?” and “Do you intend to serve him all your life?”
He confidently answered every question with: “Yes, I want to.”
Having been in the public eye for most of his life, Lopez opened up about how he escaped the “child star curse.”
The actor credits his parents for his upbringing, admitting that he did not want to disobey his father. He also wanted to make his parents proud and said they set a great example for him.

As for what changed the most when you were a celebrity in the ’90s compared to now, Lopez noted that it’s “social media.”
“I’m glad it wasn’t when I was there. I would have been pinched all over the place… arrested and worried about how certain images might convey a different story about reality.”
Lopez celebrated this holiday season by starring in his first Great American Family movie, “Once Upon a Christmas,” with wife Courtney and 11-year-old son Dominic.
“I thought, what better way … to start this relationship than with a project with my real family and my wife, who is wildly talented,” he continued.
“We met on Broadway. We got to show all her skills… we sang and danced… we had a romance. My son Dominic did a great job, he really impressed me. And the movie had a lot of heart. I’m really pleased how it turned out.”
He met his wife when they worked together on the Broadway musical “A Chorus Line” in 2008.

However, working with a spouse is not always easy, and Mario admitted that there have been challenges.
“The biggest challenge, I would say, is that you still have to find a balance between being a husband and being a colleague,” Mario told Fox News Digital.

“You’re careful about the tone and when you’re conveying certain things, sometimes, because … you might be speaking to them as an actress, but she’s still listening as a wife … that was challenging.”

In their heartwarming holiday film, Mario played Mayor Brian Ortega as he reveals his childhood Christmas wish list. Return to the city for Christmas is Brian’s childhood friend Nina Meyers, played by Courtney, and the two form a romantic relationship.
In real life, the acting duo have been together for 15 years and recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary.

Lopez also joined the roster of talent for the first Great American Family Christmas Festival, including the “Full House” star Candace Cameron Bure and “The Wonder Years” star Danica McKellar. Bure became Chief Creative Officer of the Great American Family Channel in 2022.
