Sen. Lindsey Graham, R.C., had a tense interaction Sunday during a live interview with Margaret Brennan on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
Graham told Brennan he was “ready” to vote to confirm Kash Patel, President-elect Donald Trump pick to be FBI director, and believes Patel’s hearing “will show that he is a very qualified lawman.”
The remarks came after Brennan cited former US Attorney Bill Barr’s memoir about Patel.
“Patel had virtually no experience to qualify him to serve at the highest level of world leaders law enforcement agency,” Barr wrote in his 2022 memoir.

Graham said Barr was wrong when he wrote that and now wrong about Patel. He said he is taking advice on the candidate from former Rep. Trey Gowdy, who worked with Patel.
“Kash was a public defender, he was a prosecutor, he worked with Trey Gowdy on the Russian fraud,” Graham said. “So I think he has experience. He has the confidence of the president.”

“I am ready to vote for him because I know him too [you] he never asked about the Russian fraud he exposed,” Graham continued. “People on the right believe he was part of the solution, not the problem.”
Graham then began to talk about this situation in the Middle East and its relationship to the “world stage”.

“You shouldn’t worry about Kash Patel,” Graham replied when Brennan asked about Patel “rushing the press.”
“You should worry about fair reporting of the news, which you don’t when it comes to all things Trump,” Graham concluded.
The CBS host then reminded Graham that he was a guest on the show because “we wanted to hear from you,” before going to commercial break.
