It’s no secret The NBA faces an uphill battle.
The to the decline in viewership of the league they stretched far beyond just the first week and continued as Christmas, otherwise an NBA spectacle, approached.
Many reasons have been speculated as to why the ratings have dropped, but a common suggestion is that the regular season is becoming very similar to what the All-Star Game was recently.

In recent years, the midseason contest has become full of deep 3-pointers, uncontested dunks and almost zero defense. We are now seeing a record rate of 3-pointers made, missed and taken in general, while the lack of defense has become apparent.
This year, the NBA All-Star Game will be a four-team tournament that the league hopes will add some competitive juice.
LeBron James he admitted that “it hasn’t been a great All-Star game the last few years,” but he knows the NBA is facing bigger problems, and the three-pointer could be largely to blame.

“Listen, it’s a bigger conversation. It’s not just the All-Star Game, it’s our game in general. Our game, there’s a lot of fucking three-pointers being shot. So it’s a bigger conversation than the All-Star Game itself,” James said in Thursday.
James averages 5.7 three-pointers per game; his career high is eight from the 2021-22 season. He added that “something has to change” about the All-Star Game.
“I wasn’t part of the board. It’s different, but I don’t know. We’ll see. We’ll see when we get there. It’s different. Obviously, any time you make a change, there’s going to be some [blowback]. I don’t know. I have my own ideas about what might work, but I won’t do it. We have to do something.”

Ratings for games on ESPN, ABC, TNT and NBA TV were down 25% from last year. NBA commissioner Adam Silver recently pointed to the lack of cable television in households as a contributing factor.
