Labor MP and Mayor of England, Dan Norris, has been arrested on charges of sexual offenses and rape.
The Labor Party reported that the North East Sammerset and Hanham parliament were suspended on Saturday after learning of the arrest.
Avon and Somerset police say that one of his 600s was arrested on Friday and he was released on conditional bail since then.
The forces said in a statement: “In December 2021, we received a referral from another police force related to non-guardian child sexual offenses accused of a girl. Most of the crimes were alleged that the crime had happened in the 20’s, but we were also investigating the crime of rape in the 2020 decade.”
The Press Association said investigations under the leadership of the forces rape and serious sexual abuse investigation team were underway and “initial stage” is underway. “The victim is being supported and given any special expert assistance or assistance access to it.”
A labor spokesman said: “Dan Norris was immediately suspended by the Labor Party after notifying the MP about his arrest.”
The party said that the police could no longer comment during the investigation. According to people known about the matter, Norris lost the parliamentary whip.
Norris was first elected to the House of Commons as the MP of Somnset in 1997 and served as the constituency for 5 years before losing this seat in the 21st. He was appointed as the Minister of Rural Affairs by Gordon Brown during the Premiership.
He was elected to the west of England before returning to Parliament in the re -election seat in the general election last July.
On Sunday, the sun first received news of his arrest.
Norris did not immediately respond to the request for the comment.
