Key investigator in Karen Read case questioned about cocktail glass theory


Sergeant of the Massachusetts State Police who played a key role in the investigation that led to Karen Read’s Originally abuse on the assessment of murder, he testified on Thursday that early, he told other authorities that John O’Keeefe might have hit a bar glass in the face, causing injuries to his face and head.

“At 10:41 in the morning, you called the doctor’s office to inform them that Mr. O’Keefe was a quote, hit in the face of a cocktail with a glass, or at least seemed to be right?” Jackson asked.

“This is partly what I advised the doctor’s office,” Bukennik began. “Where are they, responsible for the medical part …”

Jackson interrupted him, complaining during his own test line. After a short sidebar, Judge Beverly Cannone told the witness to do his “best” to answer the questions that were asked him.

“I don’t remember my words exactly, but that sounds exactly what I may have said,” the sergeant replied.

Jackson pressed him about what he did to secure the house, a potential crime scene.

Jackson also asked if key witnesses, like a colleague from Boston police officer Brian Albert, his sister, Jennifer McCabeAnd her husband Matt Mccabe could lie from the beginning whether O’Keefe had entered Albert’s house at 34 Fairview Road for hours before he was found dead on the front lawn.

Of those three, only Jennifer McCabe testified from Thursday in the second trial of Read. She told the jurors that she saw Read’s vehicle in front of the house shortly after midnight, but never saw reading or O’Keefe went inside.

Outside the court on Thursday, where she did not speak under the oath, she read to reporters in ordinary words that she saw him enter inside.

“Thrown out of the shoes,” Bukhenik said.

Another component of that theory was the broken rear light read. Brennan reproduced videos with a ring taken from the O’Keefe approach that showed that the light broke when she left his house at about 5am on January 29, 2022.

Bukhenik said that he later questioned read about the broken rear lights that morning and quoted, “I don’t know how I did it last night.”

O’Keefe had significant injuries to the face and head, as well as the cuts on his right hand by the time Bukennik saw him at Good Samaritan Hospital, he said.

Bukhenik, who moved to the US from Ukraine When he was 9 years old and joined the Marine Corps after September 11, it is expected that he will return to the witness booth on Friday morning when the court continues at 9 o’clock.
