Kate Middleton remarked this week about how relative surviving cancer is for so many people, making a rare comment about her battle with the disease over the past year.
“The amount of people who have written this year is incredible and I think cancer really resonates with a lot of families,” the Princess of Wales told the health worker. She addressed the public at Sandringham after the royal family left theirs Christmas church service.
The royals always spend Christmas at their Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England.
The health worker who spoke to the princess, who has been identified as Rachel Anvil from the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, said New York Posthe called Kate an “inspiration” to cancer patients because of the way she handled her own battle with cancer.
Anvil pointed out that she started her career in cancer unit, and added that having someone “so influential” open up about her battle has been helpful to others battling the disease.

“People like you do all the hard work out there,” Kate said in a video posted by Anvil’s mother on Instagram, the Post reported.
“fox, I think cancer really resonates in a lot of families.”
The princess added that she was “very grateful” for the work people like Anvil do for patients.
“We’re all behind you, never forget that,” another person, identified by the Post as Anvil’s mother — who thanked her — told the princess.

The 42-year-old royal announced she had been diagnosed with cancer in March, two months after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery in January.

She returned for her first public engagement since Christmas 2023 in June for the Trooping the Color parade.

In September, Kate announced that she had finished her preventive chemotherapy, although she said that her road to a full recovery would be long and that it would be taken day by day.

She added that she will be taking on some limited engagements for the rest of the year, including her second annual “Together at Christmas” concert at Westminster Abbey earlier this month.
