Federal Judge on Friday issued a temporary break on Trump administration Plans for restructuring various government agencies and a decrease in tens of thousands of federal workers, because Congress did not approved the Government overhaul.
US District Judge Susan Illston put a 14-day break on mass release, in accordance with a group of trade unions, non-profit and local administrations after charging the lawsuit on April 28.
Illston said Trump can restructure the federal agencies widely, but only in “lawful ways” with the approval of Congress.
“The President has the authority to seek changes to the agencies of executive branches, but he must do so in lawful ways and, in the case of great reorganization, cooperation with the legislative branch,” Illston said. “Many presidents have previously sought this cooperation; many of the congress readings have provided.”

“Nothing prevents the president from requesting this cooperation – as he did in the previous term,” the judge continued. “Indeed, the Court believes that the president probably has to ask for cooperation in the congress in order to ordered the changes he seeks, and thus issues a temporary limiting break command, meanwhile, reduction of large proportions in force.”
Illston’s verdict was the widest of this kind against administrative efforts for the overhaul of the Federal Government, which he conducted Elon musk and the Government Efficiency Department, Doge.
Fox News Digital addressed the White House for comment.
In February, Trump sent agencies to work with Doge to identify mass release goals as part of the Government Restructuring Administration.

The president has instructed the agencies to eliminate duplicated roles, unnecessary management layers and uncritical jobs, as well as automatically routine tasks, close regional field offices and reduce the use of external performers.
A group of plaintiffs said “an unlawful attempt to reorganize the Federal Government threw agencies in chaos, disrupting critical services provided in our country.”
“Each of us represents communities that are deeply invested in the efficiency of the Federal Government – eliminating federal employees and reorganizing government functions by accident, they do not achieve this,” the group states.
Illston scheduled a hearing for May 22 on a potentially longer preliminary ban. She said that prosecutors would probably suffer an irreparable damage without a temporary abstinence order, which she said was guarding the status quo.

The judge said that prosecutors would probably succeed in the basis of some of his requests. They accuse Trump of surpassing his authority and saying that Doge, the Office for Management and Budget and the Staff Management Office exceeded their authority and violated administrative law.
“The court here is not considering the potential loss of one individual employee’s income, but to the wide abolition of salaries and fees for individuals, families and communities,” Illston wrote.
