Jennifer Love Hewitt fights ageism in Hollywood.

Although Hewitt has been in the spotlight for decades, she has brushed off critics who scrutinized her looks as she grew up in the industry.

“Old age is old age,” she told Fox News Digital. “I think women are really coming into this … accepting themselves and being comfortable in their 40s, which is wonderful.”

“The times that I’m having a hard time though… I feel like the fans are choosing… this era that they love and that they think represents you, and you should never grow beyond that,” she explained, referring to the Taylor quote Swift.

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT RESPONDS TO CLAIMS THAT SHE IS ‘UNRECOGNIZABLE’: ‘AGING IN HOLLYWOOD IS REALLY HARD’

“It’s hard because I think as humans we want to evolve… we want to have wrinkles on our face, and you know our breasts are lower because we’re breastfeeding our children, or you know our behinds are bigger,” she said with a laugh.

“No matter what, you just want to have the freedom to be whoever you are at that age. And sometimes it hurts when people reject you for who you are verbally on Instagram or on the Internet because it’s hard for them to adjust to that.”

Hewitt decided to apply a filter to the photo she posted as she was wearing no make-up and was met with nasty comments and headlines suggesting she looked completely different.

“She’s unrecognizable and that’s why she went for filters because she doesn’t want us to know how bad she actually looks now in her 40s.’ And I said, ‘This is crazy.’ Right?”

Hewitt previously noted the irony that she didn’t fully understand what it meant to be sexy at a young age, while she was adorning cover of Maxim at only 17 years old.

Now, the Hollywood actress’ perspective on how fans view her has changed since becoming mother of three children.

“I have a daughter, I’m sensitive about it because I don’t want my kids to read these things and feel that way … or worry if it’s going to hurt me … sometimes it’s hard to do.”

It looks like Hewitt’s daughters will follow in their parents’ acting footsteps. They were included in a Christmas movie, “Holiday addict.

The Lifetime movie, which Hewitt directed and is her first Christmas movie, focuses on her character, Andie, as she navigates the holidays during a difficult time after losing her mother.

Hewitt has been acting since she was a child and told Fox News Digital the advice she would give her younger self.

“I was always worried,” she noted. “I was always worried… I had a lot of fun at work, and [thought] it would be my last or that… people would throw me out of Hollywood and not let me act anymore.”

“Or that I was going to be stupid… whatever it was. I was always worried… I definitely enjoyed it and being present… I had a good time and all that stuff. But I wasted a lot of time worrying. And I think I’d just tell her, ‘Look, you’re going to get old, and they’re still going to let you do things … it’s okay.'”
