The event is the first major ceremony of the movie awards season, which culminates with the Oscars on March 2.
The Globes will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, starting at 01:00 GMT on Monday for UK audiences.
A win at the Globes could help boost a film’s reputation at a critical time, as Bafta and Oscar voters prepare to fill out their ballots.
But the Globes are a much smaller event than the Academy Awards, where celebrities are usually happy after the Christmas holidays, ready to mix a few drinks and enjoy their acceptance speeches.
The most controversial films:
Baby Reindeer, Shogun and The Bear are some of the shows competing in the TV category.
In recent years, the Globes voting body has expanded and diversified its members and introduced new rules of procedure.
Change follows The LA Times’ shocking investigation in 2021 which revealed various flaws, such as voters accepting “freebies” from studios and PR agencies that lured people to get elected.
An indicatorThe Golden Globes have divided their film categories into drama and comedy/music, which allows them to choose more films and give out more awards than other traditions.
The film with the most titles is Emilia Perez, mostly Spanish-language songs about a dangerous cartel leader who wants to leave the world of crime and live a new life as a woman.
However, several of the 10 nominees are in the same categories – with two nods for best original song and two for best supporting actress.
Other contenders in the music/comedy category include Anorathe story of a New York stripper who falls for the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch.

Getty ImagesIncluded in the drama, the famous historical epic The Brutalists follows a Hungarian architect who tries to make a new life for himself in post-World War II America.
It’s contradictory Conclavebased on the 2016 novel by Robert Harris, which depicts a group of scandalous cardinals and conspirators who gather in Rome to elect a new Pope.
Nickel Boysabout two boys forced to go to a reform school in 1960s Florida, and September 5, which depicts the terrorist attack on the 1972 Munich Olympics from the sports journalists who wrote it, is also in motion.
Other contenders for the game include a sci-fi sequel Dune: Part Two and The Most Unknown, about Bob Dylan’s rise to fame in the 1960s.
Blockbusters included Deadpool & Wolverine, Twisters, Inside Out 2, Gladiator II and The Wild Robot will compete for the cinema and box office awards, which were introduced last year to recognize the best films.
Dune: Part II was not released in this category despite its financial success, allegedly because the film’s producers they want Globe voters to pay close attention for his skill.
This means that if members want to vote for the film, they must do so in large groups.
Getty ImagesThere is a greater chance that an actor will be nominated at the Globes, where there are 36 opportunities, than at the Oscars, which have 20.
As a result, the Globes are able to lean towards the big names, making sure that the ceremony is well attended by A-listers, not all who are going to write an Oscar.
This year’s British nominees include Daniel Craig (to) Kate Winslet (Lee), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Cynthia Erivo (bad) Hugh Grant (Rebel), Tilda Swinton (The Room Next Door) and Felicity Jones (The Brutalists).
They are included with stars included Angelina Jolie (Mary), Nicole Kidman (Daughter), Demi Moore (something), Glen Powell (Beat Man), Timothy Chalamet (A Complete Unknown) and Zendaya (Defendants).
There are two pop stars in the race – and Ariana Grande (Bad) is Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez) are all running for the best.
Some notable candidates include Amy Adams (Night time), Pamela Anderson (The Last Girl), Colman Domingo (Call Call) and Denzel Washington (Gladiator II).
Very importantThe supporting cast will see two former Succession stars go head-to-head – Kieran Culkin (True Pain) is Jeremy Strong (Student).
The winner is Strong Sebastian Stan he has two credits – one for playing Donald Trump in The Apprentice and another for A Different Man.
But some of the biggest contenders this awards season aren’t Hollywood A-listers, so much as newcomers. Mike Madison (Anora), Spanish painter Karla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Pérez), from Brazil Fernanda Torres (I’m Here) is a Russian actor Yura Borisov (Nora).
Away from the elite groups, other notable candidates include musicians Robbie Williams among the best original songs, Forbidden Road, from his biopic Better Man.
Two of this year’s winners have already been announced: Viola Davis will take home the Cecil B DeMille award, for best contribution to film, right Ted Danson will be honored with a Carol Burnett Award, for excellence in television.
Getty ImagesThe Globes used to have good taste in hosts, always recruiting acerbic personalities to make expensive jokes about A-list guests.
They are continuing that pattern this year with US comics Nikki Glaser, who had a great performance at The Roast of Tom Brady last summer.
Glaser said she is “very excited” to host the Globes, adding that she hopes to get a “front row seat” to “one of my favorite nights on television”.
“It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows it, but encourages it to be mocked with love (at least I hope). (God I hope),” he said in a statement.
“Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from the Golden Globes opening monologues where Tina is [Fey]Mother [Poehler] or Ricky [Gervais] we said exactly what we all didn’t know we needed to hear.
“I’m just looking forward to continuing this honorable tradition (which may also stop me). This is truly a dream job.”
Getty ImagesUS viewers can watch the show on the CBS network, which is broadcasting the Globes as part of a five-year deal.
It will also be on Paramount+ and Showtime. The ceremony starts at 01:00 GMT and usually lasts three to four hours.
UK viewers without a VPN can expect to see better quality TV, YouTube and news on Monday morning.
