Houthi missile strike in Tel Aviv wounds more than a dozen

A Houthi missile strike has injured more than a dozen people in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Israel’s military said an attempt to shoot down a projectile launched from Yemen was unsuccessful and landed in a heavily populated area on Saturday.

A Houthi military spokesman said the group hit the army using hypersonic ballistic missiles.

The HouthisThe Iran-backed terrorist group, which controls northwestern Yemen, began attacking Israel and international ships shortly after the Gaza war began in October 2023, claiming it was acting in solidarity with the Palestinians.

The Israeli military says nearly 400 missiles and drones have been flown into the country from Yemen since then, most of them shot down.

After the shelling at the beginning of Saturday, Magen David Adom (MDA), a medical aid in Israel, said that he helped 16 people who were “slightly injured” by pieces of glass from broken windows in nearby houses.

Another 14 people with minor injuries were taken to safe areas and treated, it said.

Earlier this week, Israel launched a series of strikes against what it said were Houthi forces, hit ports and electronics in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. Houthi-run Al Masirah TV reported that nine people were killed at the port of Salif and the Ras Issa oil refinery.

The Houthis have vowed to continue their offensive until the war in Gaza ends.
