House vote on ‘very similar’ spending bill expected Friday morning, GOP lawmaker says


The Chamber of Deputies plans to vote on the CR’s second proposal on Friday morning to avert a threatened partial government shutdown, GOP lawmaker he told reporters on Capitol Hill.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., speaking to reporters outside Speaker Mike Johnson’s office, said lawmakers were “very close to an agreement” and a vote could take place at 10 a.m. Friday.

“I don’t believe the government is going to shut down. You’re going to see some great things, very similar to President Trump’s plan yesterday,” the congresswoman said.

Luna also added that “there will be no deal with the Democrats.”

Trump-backed legislation to avoid a partial government shutdown he failed to pass House of Representatives on Thursday evening. The bill needed a two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives to pass, but failed to even reach a majority, with two Democrats voting with most Republicans to pass the bill and 38 Republicans against.
