Global chip giants gather as the sector grapples with tariffs and approaches critical juncture on AI

The Global Semiconductor Chip Gits will gather Taiwan’s top tech expo this week to show “next fire” for an industrial dominated by artificial intelligence.

NVIDIA Boss Jensen Huang will make an important language on Monday, COMPUTEX eve, because tech groups with an impact on US taries and destroys US chains.

The four-day movement draws computer companies and chip from around the world in Taiwan, whose semiconductor industry is important to iPhones on servers.

Taiwan makes most of the most advanced chips in the world, including those in need for the most powerful application and AI research.

“I have a lot of wonderful notifications to do,” Huang said Taipei reporters Friday.

“We are at the center of ecosystem technology and so there are many companions with us here and we look forward to advertising many projects and initiatives.”

Top executives from communityMediatek and Foxconn also speak computex, where the progress of moving AI from the data centers on laptops, robots and cars can be in the room.

“From agentic ai driving on the more physical AI devices that reshape autonomy, the show maps in the next front,” the specialist research company said in a note.

Tech Paul Yu expert tells the AFP in the industry with a “critical clearing” for developing AI hardware.

“Within the past two and a half years, significant investment operates a speedy development of AI technology,” says Yu, at the Witology Markettretret Research Institute.

“2025 to 2026 will be a significant time for transferring AI model training in available applications.”

‘Taiwan to continue to improve’

While US tariffs are the largest issue facing the sector, most computex companies “stay away from tariffs directly while the state of being uncertain,” said Eric Smith in technical technissinsisights.

In the last month, Washington announced a national semiconductor technology security check, which could be placed the industry in crossy Donald Trump’s Bazooka.

Since school extract in January, Trump threatens several tariffs against many American traders of america with the intention of compulsion companies to move production to land.

Export-Affendent Taiwan promised to increase investment in the United States while trying to avoid 32 percent of US tariffs on its shipments.

But there are concerns to lose its power the sector of the chip – the so-called “Silicon Shield” that protects it from an invasion or disruption to the United States to protect it.

TSMC, Taiwan Taiwan’s Taiwan contract revealed plans to inject an additional $ 100 billion in the United States, over $ 65 billion promised.

TSMC-supplier globalwafers also informed plans last week to increase US investment in $ 4 billion Taiwanese company opening a Waffanese US State Texas facility.

But Huang is optimistic on Friday when asked about the effects of Taiwan’s tariffs, saying that the island “remain at the center of ecosysists”.

“There are many smart companies here, there are many new and spirit companies,” said Huang.

“I totally expect Taiwan to keep in progress … before, after, throughout.”
