Turki Al-Sheikh just announced that Ryan Garcia will fight former WBA welterweight champion Rolando Rolly Romero, Devin Haynie will face Jose Ramirez and Martin Bakole will fight Efe Ajagba on the same card in May. This is expected to be shown on PPV from Times Square in New York.
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) got a tough fight against former WBA and WBO light heavyweight champion Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs). I wonder if this was Bill Haney’s brilliant idea to match Devin against this guy. He might live to regret taking this fight.
Rolly Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) is a surprise opponent for Ryan, as Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz was the name rumored to fight. Romero was seen as a one-hit wonder.
Cruz knocked out Raleigh in the eighth round last year on March 30 in a title clash. For Ryan to fight Raleigh, it suggests he doesn’t want to risk losing to him after a long 13-month layoff.
It was a fight that fans would be excited about, but there would be a lot of risk for Garcia as Cruz could struggle. Rawley has won two of his last four fights, and some believe he would have lost a third if not for a freak stoppage in his May 2023 bout against Ismael Barroso.
That’s where the referee stopped the fight out of the blue after Rolli landed a flurry of punches, sending everyone into the air. He then lifts Rollie’s arm in the air, giving him the knockout victory, while Barroso just stands there like, ‘What’s going on here.’ No rematch was given to Barroso, which made Raleigh look even worse.
Ring Magazine is excited to announce its first US boxing card this May 2025 in association with the video game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (after which the card will be named) and SNK Games.
The card includes three fights:
