Florida man shot by police after pointing ‘realistic-looking’ BB gun at officers

Matthew Wagner, 20 years old, was hit by a shooting of noon on Thursday in Kissimmee when police responded to a “911 call for a man armed with a rifle” near a shopping center, said Chief Charles Broadway.

“Upon arriving, our police officers came across an individual holding a rifle. Our police officers gave some verbal orders and warnings to lower the rifle,” Broadway said.

“The topic then showed this rifle on the officers and in that time the police were forced to shoot on the topic to defend themselves and others in the area. The police immediately began to help until EMS had arrived to carry the subject to a local hospital,” he added.

Broadway said Wagner was in a stable state after the shooting.

“We do not have a motive right now and we do not know why the individual pointed the rifle with our officers, but I am grateful that none of our officers have been injured and I want to acknowledge the rapid actions of our officers who responded in such high pressure,” Broadway continued.
