EU will defend borders, says French minister in response to Trump’s Greenland threats

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said the EU would not allow any country to “invade its sovereign borders”, after Donald Trump ruled out taking Greenland by force.

Asked about the possibility of a US invasion of Danish territory, Barot told France Inter radio station: “There is no question of the European Union allowing other nations in the world, whoever they are, and I would even say, starting with Russia, to invade its sovereign borders. .We are a strong continent, we have to make ourselves stronger.”

He added that he did not expect Trump to attack Greenland but added that Europe needed to “wake up” to a more insecure world.
