Devin Haney Cryptic Message: Ducked In 2025? Who is He talking about?

Devin Haney posted a cryptic message on social media tonight, saying he expects to retire in 2025.

He won’t say who would avoid him, but he may be talking about Ryan Garcia because his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, has said that a matchup with Devin will not happen in his first fight after his suspension expires in April.

Devin and his father, Bill Haney, want a rematch with Kingry to avenge their loss last April. It’s also one of the highest-paid fights for Hani (31-0, 15 KOs) in 2025. However, if he loses the rematch with Garcia, his career is over. He would regret accepting that fight for the rest of his life.

Dev needs to beat Garcia to show fans that his 12-round majority decision loss to Garcia on April 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn was just an off night. In that fight, Haney was taken down three times and three more times that the referee did not count.

Andrade Critiques Haney

“At first, I thought about Devin Haney for a long time because I thought he was going to develop into a Sugar Ray Leonard kind of guy, but it just hasn’t been that recent,” Demetrius Andrade said MillCity Booking about how he initially believed Devin Haney would be the guy to beat Gervonta Davis.

“I don’t know if (Haney) got too complacent or not.” He is still young because they earn good money and then stop working. I’m not saying he doesn’t work hard. I thought he would be the guy to beat Tank in the future. I beat a lot of them, honestly.

“I think he’s got the skills to beat everybody, but what Ryan Garcia is. Despite the little substance he took, he didn’t show any dominance skills over Ryan, and Ryan looked like a whore at times. “He was tired,” Andrade said.

If Andrade was serious about Haney becoming the next Sugar Ray Leonard, that means he wasn’t around when he fought. Haney doesn’t fight anything like Leonard. Even the older version of Sugar Ray from 1997 was beyond Devin’s talent.

“There were a lot of rounds in that fight where Devin should have been pressing and pushing and he wasn’t,” Andrade said. “He just let it go on, and he was throwing Caleb Plant jabs at them. It didn’t do anything and Ryan just bup-bup. “That was tough,” Andrade said of Hani’s loss to Garcia.

Hannay tried to neutralize Ryan’s left hook with an over clinch, but kept getting pinned as he tried to grab it. He pulled through by struggling in his two fights against George Kambossos Jr. and his bout against Vasily Lomachenko. That tactic didn’t work against Garcia.
