Democratic Congressmen said on Wednesday that his journey with former President Joe Biden reminded him of his sick father during his term.
“We just had this moment when he met the president of Ireland and the whole tour went extremely good, and the president was in a big, great mood,” said delegate Mike Quigley, D-ill. April 2023.
“And it reminded me, this is my father who suffered from Parkinson’s later life, we would have a family gathering and he would be charged. And, you know, he had that energy and he could hear his voice. And then when it was over, the air came out of the balloon.”

“Just after all these events, when you saw the president, unfortunately, the air comes out of the balloon,” Quigley said. “It was a completely different person. You could hardly hear him speak. He was, you know, woven … and very fragile.”

Quigley said he had told his former colleague, Brian Higgins, a Democrat of New York, that they also saw the similarities between Higgins’ father and Biden.
“His father crossed from a neurodegenerative disease,” Quigley said. “We actually felt the same looking at what the president went through … This was a tragedy we saw not only with our family, but is the president we loved and respected. It’s hard to watch.”
