Gabriel Rosado says David Morrell woke up “The Beast” to David Benavidez’s WBC Interim Heavyweight Championship with his constant insults in the building in their fight this Saturday, February 1, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Rosado feels Benavidez (29-0, 24-0) will attack Morrell (11-0, 9 KOS), which sees him overwhelm him with punches to score a knockout in their 12-round Clash at PBC on Prime Video Ppv main event.
Benavidez doesn’t get used to being old and being limited “Robocop” FIGHTIRT by his opponents, but the technically talented Cuban Morrell is surprised by how basic his fighter is. He’s been with his size and girth all these years, fighting at 168, and now he’s making his first appearance against a real credible threat, in David Morrell.
It’s late in the game for 12-year pro Benavidez, who takes his first test and could fall apart on Saturday night.
“Please Benavidez. I’ve known him for years. I favor Benavidez, but you can’t sleep on Morrell. This is a fight that Benavidez didn’t even have to take this fight. Morrell was the one who needed this fight,” said Gabe Rosado do Fight Hub TVclaiming WBA ‘Regular’ Lightweight Heavyweight Heavyweight Champion David Morrell this fight against WBC 175-LB Interim Champion David Benavidez.
“Morrell is in a situation where he’s hit the jackpot. So if he can in this fight, he’s there because nobody called Morrell. So that shows what a dog Benavidez is. He said, ‘Come on, let’s go. Let’s get him let’s start,” said Rosado, if not to point out that Benavidez did not show interest in fighting Morrell two years after he first invited him in 2022.
“I think he is Awakening a different kind of beast in Benavidez Because nobody really acts like that with Benavidez,” Gabe said of Morrell talking to him, repeatedly questioning his mettle and saying he couldn’t punch.
WBA ‘Regular’ 175-LB Champion Morrell didn’t hit the jackpot with this fight, as he is the belt holder in this fight, not Benavidez. If Morrell was a lesser contender, then you could argue that he “hit the Jackpot,” but that’s not the case. Benavidez is needed here.
“It’s going to be a firefight. They’re both going to go head-to-head and it’s going to be a matter of who can take it because they’re both going for shots. I think Morrell is the bigger puncher of the two, but Benavidez takes you out with volume. So, what’s going to win?” he said. Rosado.
This may not be a pure firefight like the one Rosado predicted as there will be movement from Morrell, who is from the Cuban school of fighting. They are stagnant like the fighters Benavidez fought through the first 11 years of his career. The Cuban owns an actual IK ring and won’t be facing fighters known for their high volume like Benavidez.
“Is it going to be power or is it going to be volume? It’s going to come down to it, because I don’t think Morrell is going to be able to match Benavidez’s amount. He keeps hitting you and he doesn’t get tired,” Rosado said. .
In the fight against Mexican monster Benavidez against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, he became quite tired last June and looked exhausted from the eighth round. The extra weight Benavidez now carries to fight at 175 caught up with him.
Furthermore, the shots he gets hit at light heavyweight are much harder than they were when he had a campaign at 168 against the likes of David Lemieux, Anthony Dirrell, Demetrius Andrada and the plant in Caleb. He didn’t like the power he gathered in his debut at 175 against Gvozdik.
Benavidez’s jabs only work against stationary fighters. Fights like William Zepedo and Benavidez, who depend on girth to win, are neutralized by fighters who move and stick.
That’s why Zepeda had so much trouble against Tevin Farmer, and that’s why Benavidez will struggle to get his boots off against Morrell. He will be forced into the long game, throwing single shots and that is not Benavidez’s forte.
“So Morrell is definitely going to have to set some traps and land some big shots in that fight,” Rosado said.
Morrell will likely field, move and pound Benavidez with huge shots all night long. Benavidez will talk in many punches with his Robocop style Attacking and it will do to Morrell is already terrible powering up even more pushback.
If you’re Benavidez, he’d be wiser to shelve that style permanently because Morrell, Artur Beterbiev, Joshua Buatsi and Dmitry Bivol will get it.
Benavidez got away with that primitive approach because of the many years he fought at 168 against the limited opposition he fought. He can’t do it at 175 without ending up inside Pallookville In a year or two, if it even lasts that long. Benavidez can’t keep hitting like he did in his light heavyweight debut against Gvozdik without a fighter over the hill any time soon.
The “Mexican monster” already had a long twelve years of professional life, and the injuries that are starting to pile up, he is starting to break down physically like most fighters who have been in the game for that long.
Chronologically, Benavidez is young at 28, but the punishment he’s taken to his head is the same as any fighter who’s been in the sport for over a decade. It’s even worse with Benavidez, because he fights aggressively, brilliantly.
