Court issues arrest warrant for South Korea’s President Yoon


AND South Korean court on Tuesday approved an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was impeached and suspended from power over his decision to impose martial law on Dec. 3, investigative authorities said.

The Office of Corruption Investigation for Senior Officials confirmed that the Seoul Western District Court approved the warrant.

This is the first warrant ever issued for current president in South Korea, local media reports.

On Monday, South Korean investigators requested an arrest warrant for Yoon over this month’s short-lived state of emergency.

Yoon faces a criminal investigation on possible sedition charges.
