Costco could be switching to Coca-Cola in its food courts in 2025

Social media is abuzz with rumors that Costco may switch to Coca-Cola products in its restaurants as early as 2025.

The news was first reported by the website Costco Insider in a post dated December 17, 2024 on their Instagram account.

“After more than a decade, Costco is switching from Pepsi to Coke products in their stores,” the post said. “The change will bring Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero and Diet Coke, as well as Sprite in place of Starry.”

Costco switched from Coca-Cola products to Pepsi products in 2013, according to a Costco Insider post, “as a cost-saving measure to maintain their famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo.”

The Washington-based wholesale club did not change the price of a hot dog and soda combo since the 1980s, and in May 2024, its CFO assured customers that its pricing was “safe,” FOX Business reported at the time.

Matt West, editor of Costco Insider, told Fox News Digital on Friday that his publication had heard the news from “multiple sources.”

“Personally, we’re very excited about the change. Being lifelong fans of Costco, we were very disappointed with the change 11 years ago,” said West, who lives in California.

It seemed that West was not alone in his feelings.

He told Fox News Digital that his publication “did a poll of our followers and 87% favored Coke instead of Pepsiso it sounds like most Costco members feel the same way we do.”

The switch to Coca-Cola “is expected to happen in early 2025,” Costco Insider said.

“Coke has a much greater focus on the quality of the product coming out of the machine, including machine maintenance guidelines, syrup mix and more to ensure a consistently great experience for Costco customers,” according to a Dec. 19 publication about the rumor.
