Claire Shipman, acting of the president of Columbia, said on Wednesday that NYPD was called to help “secure” the building. She added that two university police officers had been injured.

“Unfortunately, during this disorder, two of our public security officers in Columbia suffered injuries during a bunch of bumps when individuals tried to force their way to the building and in room 301,” said Shipman. “These actions are amazing.”

In a separate statement, Shipman said that individuals broke into one of the library reading room.

“Disorders of our academic activities will not be tolerated and violations of our rules and policies; this is especially unacceptable while our students are studying and preparing for the final exams. Colombia strongly condemns violence on our campus, anti -Semitism and all forms of hatred and discrimination, some of our impression.
