College football player died of irregular heartbeat

Ben Christman, a football offensive player who switched from Kentucky to UNLVHe was found dead in his apartment outside the campus in February at the age of 21, the day before his birthday.

Christman allegedly felt pain in the chest day Before he died While practicing and undergoing an ECG with a team facility.

Well, the Clark (Nevada) box office announced on Thursday that Christman had died of cardiac arrhythmia, irregular heartbeats and cardiomyopathy, a disease that affects the heart muscle.

For two seasons, Christman was in Ohio State before he moved to Kentucky. He sat in the 2023 season with a knee injury and played on special teams in 2024. He was ready to play for UNLV in the coming season 2025.

“The heart of our team is broken when he hears Benov passing,” said UNLV chief coach Dan Mullen in a statement at the time of his death. “From the day Ben went to our campus a month ago, he made the rebels a better program. Ben was an easy choice for our Committee for Leadership, because he gained direct respect, admiration and friendship of all his teammates.

“Our prayers go out to his family and everyone who knew him. Ben made the world a better place and miss him.”

School president Keith E. Whitfield said he was “incredibly sad” to hear about Christman’s death.

“Little can be said to diminish the pain of a sudden loss of a member of our university family at such a young age, and my heart breaks down for anyone who knew him and loved him,” he said. “On behalf of UNLV, our sincere condolences are with Ben’s family, friends, loved ones and teammates at this very difficult time.”

Christman was from Akron, Ohioand played high school football at Revere High School. He was a four -star recruit from high school.
