Coco Gauff dominates French Open match after arriving without rackets

In disbelief, Gauff showed her empty bag to her team in the stands and seemed to joke with the opponent Olivia Gadecki about the accident.

“Honestly, as long as I was on tour, my coach always put a racket in my bag before the match because he is very superstitious,” Gauff explained about the incident. “I blame for my coach. It’s okay.”

Despite the obvious wrong communication, Gauff does not seem to have missed the pace during his match. She beat the Australian tennis Pro in flat sets.

“Now that I’m thinking about it, it seems that it was the only way to win the match,” Gadecki joked after losing 6-2, 6-2.

Gauff progressed to the second round where he would face Teresa Valentov on Thursday. American best ending at the Frank Open was the finals of 2022.
