China is eager to establish a trade agreement with the US, according to the President Donald Trump.
Trump’s remarks come as a finance minister Scott betting He is ready to launch trade negotiations with China in Switzerland on Saturday in the middle of a steep tariff battle between Washington and Beijing.
“Scott will go to Switzerland, a meeting with China,” Trump told reporters on Thursday at the White House. “And you know, they really want to make an agreement. We can all play games. Who is the first invitation, who did not send them? That doesn’t matter. It’s only important to happen in that room. But I will tell you that China wants to make an agreement. We’ll see how it works.”
Trump told the aircraft reporters one on Sunday that he wanted a “fair” trade agreement with China, claiming that the debates with Beijing were in making more questions.
Trump has expressed support for the tariffs for decades. The White House invited the tariffs to address the national record deficit of $ 1.2 trillion and said the tariffs would return US production affairs.
Bessent warned in April that tariffs could cost China up to 10 million jobs and said that the current tariffs were obliged to remove the current imports of imports to the United States.
“I think over time we will see that Chinese tariffs are unsustainable for cinema. I have seen some very large numbers in the last few days that show that if these numbers remain involved, the Chinese could lose 10 million jobs very quickly,” Bessent told reporters at the White House on April 29. “And even if there are 5 million jobs.
“So remember we are a country of deficit,” Bessent said. “They sell us almost five times more goods than we sell them. So, they will be stated to take off these tariffs. They are unsustainable for them.”
Bessent also told the legislators on Tuesday that the United States had launched discussions with various countries and indicated that major trade agreements could be published “this week”.
