Actor George Wendt, best known for his role Norm Peterson In “Cheers”, he died on Tuesday, but in one of his last interviews before his death he shared that his audition with one word that caused him in his iconic role.
Wendt reunited with his “cheerful” stars Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson in August for their Podcast, Siriusxm “Where everyone knows your name.” During their conversation, he referred to how he almost missed the role that would define his career, all because of the conflict in scheduling.

“My agent called and said,” You know, honey, they want to do it “fans.” You are not available now “because I had this second show [‘Making the Grade’] On Paramount for CBS, “Wendt remembered then.

Although the audition was just one syllable, it would eventually echo through the history of sitcom.
After the initial reading, the “Cheers” team realized that Wendt had something more to offer. They expanded his role and gave him another recording, while he was completely auditioning for another character.
“I read it,” Wendt said. “And then they decided that they would try to do it to do it where they could perform both shows, and then the second show was canceled.”
Wendt’s beloved character “lived”, Norm Peterson, became the favorite of the fans, because the frequent buyer had a blow for every pint.

Wendt died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday morning, according to a statement of a family representative divided by Fox News Digital.
“George was a family man, a well -loved friend and a commissioner of all those who were happy enough to know him,” said the statement.

“I am devastated when I hear that Georgie is no longer with us. I send all my love Bernadette and children,” Danson wrote in a statement that is given Hollywood reporter. “It will take me a long time to get used to this. I love you, Georgie.”

What you saw on the screen was the one from the screen with the impeccable comic time and deep loyalty to those he loved. The conversations and quiet moments of friendship that meant most meant. My thoughts with his wife Bernadette, and everyone who loved.

Rhea Perlman’s “lived” teammate repeated a similar feeling, saying, “George Wendt was the sweetest, sweetest man I ever met.”
Perlman, who portrayed the waitress Carl Tortelli in the series, continued: “It was impossible to not love him. Like Carla, I often stood by him, because the norm always took the same place at the end of the bar, which made him grab him and beat him from him. I will paint more.

“Cheers” broadcast 275 episodes during its 11-season on the NBC from 1982 to 1993. The beloved show took home 28 Emmy awards with a total of 179 nominations.
