Bill Maher torches DEI efforts as meaningless ‘virtue signaling’ left uses to ‘make themselves feel better’

Liberal comedian Bill Maher dismissed diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts as meaningless virtue-signaling leftism that does nothing to address racial divisions or inequality in the US

In a new episode of the “Club Random” podcast released Sunday, Maher was joined by late-night icon Jay Leno, where the pair discussed push DEI’s efforts in institutions and corporations across the US

Maher said that “virtue signaling and things they do to make themselves feel better about being allies” distracts from addressing the root of the problem.

“You want to be a good ally, deal with the real issues. Any racial issues in this country are not dealt with by DEI and programs like that,” he said sharply.

The solution, according to Maher, boils down to three things.

“Better schools. Don’t graduate kids who don’t know anything and have no skills,” he said. “More fathers. And the war on drugs. Those are practical things and that’s not what they’re interested in.”

Maher has often used his podcast to speak out against the left’s embrace of wake culture. He declared last year, “We’ve gotten to this place where you can’t even get close to a topic, certain topics, without the mob going after you.”

In a sober assessment of why the Democratic Party lost after the November election, Maher told his audience: “Make no mistake, this election had a lot to do with what I’ve been saying here and I’ve lost a lot of fans because I’ve said over the years that this country plenty of awakened bulls against common sense —.”

In June, Maher said there was “weaponizing” white guilt and attempting to exaggerate racism in America while discussing the issue with liberal journalist Kara Swisher on his podcast.

Pressure on private companies yes waive their obligations to DEI has brought significant change as critics denounce them as discriminatory and ineffective. Recently, Walmart, Nissan and American Airlines have joined the growing list of major corporations to stop so-called “woke” initiatives, and others are expected to follow suit.
