Biden honors fallen troops at first public event since cancer announcement


Former president Joe Biden Honorary members of the fallen services and families of gold stars on Friday at the service of Remembrance Day in Delaware, marking his first public remarks since he announced that his prostate cancer had been diagnosed.

“We get together and remember the debt we owe American army,“Biden said at the event, under the auspices of the veterans commission in Delaware.

“The army is a solid spine, the spine of our nation,” Biden said. “Our troops, our veterans, our military families and especially our golden stars. Only about 1% of all Americans defend 99% of us – 1%. Only 1% of Americans risk the final sacrifice. We owe them much more than we can ever bring them back.”

The Golden Star family is a immediate family of service members who died while serving their duties.

For the Biden family, the day is deeply personal, because on May 30, it has been evaluated for 10 years since Biden’s son Beau died of brain cancer. Beau Biden served at the National Delaware Army for more than 10 years, ending the tour of Iraq, where he earned a bronze star for his service and became a state prosecutor before his death.

“Everyone who came here today to grieve, who have grieved in your heart, please know that you are not alone,” Biden said. “You will never be alone. And your beloved person will never be forgotten. The period.”

Biden said that the son of Beau Biden, Hunter, 19, was present at the event, while recalling that he attended the same event of Memorial Day as the Senator with Beau Biden at the same age.

The former president also said that politics became divided – but that the victims of those in the army for defense of democracy should unite everything.

“Our troops don’t wear a uniform that says I’m a democrat or a Republican, he says I’m an American,” Biden said. “I’m an American. It’s me.”

Biden announced on May 18 that he was diagnosed with a “aggressive form” prostate cancer. Later, the office of the former president said he had never received the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

The announcement came in the midst of an increased surveillance of Biden Mental fitness for officeAfter publishing multiple books this year, a chronic deterioration of Biden’s mental abilities.

Likewise, missed audio recordings of Biden’s interview in October 2023. With former special adviser Robert Hur, they were released in May, showing that Biden struggled not to stray his words, and even seem to forget a year when his son died.
