The Presidential Medal of Freedom will be awarded to 19 people this year, ranging from social figures, politicians and campaigners.
They have been chosen because they are “great people who have made significant contributions to their country and the world,” the White House said.
Biden will present the medal at the White House in a ceremony on Saturday.
