Chicago Sky Star Angel Reese Set the new WNBA mark on Tuesday, hours after the league announced that she could not confirm claims against racist remarks against her during the first game of the season against Indiana fever.
Reese had 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds at a loss of 94-89 Phoenix Mercury.

She became the fastest player who scored at least 500 points and 500 career rebounds, doing it in 38 games. Houston Comet Great Tina Thompson had previously held a mark, as she did so in the first 44 career games between the 1997 and 1998 season.
Reese has 502 points and 502 rebounds.
The turning point came while WNBA closed an investigation into alleged hate comments towards Sky players. Associated Press reported that the league specially explored the racial failures according to Reese.
Reese did not ask about the investigation after the game.

“We explored a report on racist fans’ behavior near the court during May 17, 2025 Chicago Sky On Indiana Fever game, “the league said.
“Based on the data collected to the present, including relevant fans, team and arena staff, as well as audio and video review of the game, we have not substantiated them. The WNBA is dedicated to encouraging a safe and inclusive environment for everyone and will continue to be awake in spending our fans.”
President and Executive Director Sky, Adam Fox, expressed gratitude to the fever and league for the investigation.

“This process shows a strong attitude of the league to stop hatred at all WNBA games and events, and we will continue to support those efforts,” Fox said.
