WBA, WBC, WBO and IBO world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 12 KOs) defeated former champion Tyson ‘Gypsy King’ Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) by unanimous decision in 12 rounds in a rematch. on Saturday night at the Royal Arena in Riyadh.
In the first round, the southpaw Usyk used an effective jab, landing more than Fury’s jab. In the second round, Usyk went to Fury’s body. Fury rocked Usyk with a left to the chin in the final fifteen seconds, taking the round. In the third round, Fury, transitioning back and forth into orthodox, did enough to take the round, bloodying Usyk’s nose.
In the fourth round Usyk seemed to have a slight advantage. In the final minute of the fifth round, Fury took a straight shot to the chin, and Usyk came back with four punches of his own. In the sixth round, Fury was working well until the last thirty seconds when Usyk took the lead in an even fight.
It was close in the seventh round, and Usyk ended up with swelling under his left eye. Usyk defeated Fury in the eighth. In the ninth round, Usyk continued to use his jab on Fury in a takedown rally. In the tenth round, Usyk overtook Fury, who is trying to hold him back.
In the last half of the eleventh round, Usyk was taking Fury back. In the twelfth and final round, it was back and forth as Usyk appeared to have done enough to win the round and the fight.
The scores were 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112.
In the co-feature, WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion Moses Itauma (11-0, 9 KOs) stopped Demsey McKean (22-2, 14 KOs) with a left at 1:57 of the first round of the scheduled 10 rounds.
In the first round, an overhand left from Itauma’s head halfway through the round saw McKean drop the 8-count by referee Bob Williams. Seconds later, a flying left to the head and down McKin again. He beat the counter, but referee Williams stopped it.
In a late replacement bout, Ishmael ‘The Black Panther’ Davis (13-2, 6 KOs) stopped Serhii ‘El Flaco’ Bohachuk (25-2, 24 KOs) after six rounds of the scheduled 12 rounds in the WBC Junior Middleweight Title Eliminator category.
In the first round, Davis went back to the southpaw and back, took over the round, hitting Bohackhook right in the head. In the final thirty seconds of the second round, a short left hook to the chin from Bohackhook dropped Davis for an 8-count from referee Hector Afu. Davis suffered a cut on his right eyebrow in the closing seconds of the third round.
In the sixth round, Bohhackuk took Davis out. As he slowly walked to his corner, he broke off the fight.
Heavyweight Johnny ‘The Romford Bull’ Fisher (13-0, 11 KOs) defeated David ‘White Rhino’ Allen (23-7-2, 18 KOs) by a controversial 10-round split decision for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental Title in the heavyweight division.
In the first two rounds, Fisher went to the body, taking the round. In the third round, Allen started landing a right to the chin. In the first minute of the fifth round, Allen dropped Fisher with a right flip for an 8 count from referee Bob Williams. At the end of the round, Fisher suffered a bloody nose.
In the sixth round, referee Williams continues to allow Allen to hit Fisher in the back of the head. In the seventh, the slugfest continued, with both men landing on each other’s chins, with Allen having the upper hand. In the final seconds of the eighth, Allen rocked Fisher with a left jab to the chin.
In the ninth round, Allen overpowers Fischer, trying to throw Fischer to the canvas and receives a second warning. Fischer fights like he needs a knockout in the tenth and final round. Allen seems to have the upper hand. At the bell, Allen fell to his knees, hoping to win.
The scores were 95-94 Fisher, 96-93 Allen, 95-94 Fisher.
Isaac ‘Westgate Warrior’ Love (25-3-3, 8 KOs) lost to Lee ‘Lightning’ McGregor (15-1-1, 11 KOs) by ten round unanimous decision for the vacant WBC International featherweight title.
In the first few rounds, McGregor bullied Lowe. In the fourth round, Lowe lands a left hook on the ropes. McGregor’s long left hook was finding its mark in the fifth round.
In the tenth and final round, a clash of heads cost Lowe a cut over his right eyebrow. He lost the phone several times. McGregor also cut his right eye in the forehead, but looked victorious.
The scores were 96-92, 97-91 and 97-91.
Former Olympian and current WBA International Super Bantamweight champion, southpaw Peter ‘Blood’ McGrail (11-1, 6 KOs) won a controversial decision over WBA No. 13 ranked Rhys Edwards (16-1, 4 KOs) via unanimous decision ten rounds.
In the third round, McGrail suffered a cut around his right eye from a clash of heads. In the bottom of the fourth, Edwards had his best moments.
In the sixth round, both had their moments. In the eighth, Edwards had the best round. In the ninth and tenth rounds, Edwards seemed to get the better of him.
The scores were 96-94, 96-94 and 96-95.
VBA no. 11, Daniel Lapin (11-0, 4 KOs) defeated Dylan Collin (14-1, 4 KOs) by unanimous decision over ten rounds to capture the vacant IBF International and VBA Continental light heavyweight titles.
In the first three rounds, the hand speed of the taller Lapin southpaw was too much for Collin, who is returning after a year out.
In the sixth round, Lapa’s right uppercut appeared to drop Colin to his knees, but he slipped as his feet got tangled. In the eighth round, Lapin hurt Collin with a right jab to the body, but didn’t follow up.
Scores 100-90, 99-91 and 99-91.
WBC International Heavyweight Champion Andril ‘Rampage’ Nowitzki (14-0, 10 KOs) defeated Edgar Ramirez (10-2-1, 4 KOs) via a ten-round unanimous decision.
In the first round, Nowitzki outlasted Ramirez, who bounced back in the second and third rounds. In the fifth round, Nowitzki dominated.
It was close in the eighth round, and Nowitzki dominated the ninth, ending an otherwise low-action round with a sharp right to the body. In the tenth and final round, Nowitzki won another round.
The scores were 100-90, 100-90 and 98-92.
Lightweight Mohamed Alakel (2-0) defeated Joshua Ocampo (8-34-5, 6 KOs) by unanimous decision in six rounds.
In the second round, Alakel landed a right to the jaw and Ocampo was dropped to 8 points by referee Kevin Parker. From the third to the sixth round, Alakel outworked Ocampo.
The scores were 60-53, 60-53 and 60-53.
