She reportedly told Danish broadcaster TV 2 that Greenland would choose its own future and said: “We must remain calm and stick to our principles,” while praising the US as a key Danish ally.
In a post on Truth Social on Monday, Trump said he “heard that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA’.” The Republican attached a video purportedly showing a Greenlander asking the US to buy his land.

Trump’s son arrived on Tuesday in Nuuk, the capital of the Arctic territory. He met the locals, visited cultural sites and recorded a video for a podcast. The president-elect released a video showing a plane bearing the words “TRUMP” landing in Nuuk.
“Don Jr. and my representatives are landing in Greenland,” Trump wrote. “The reception has been great. They and the Free World need safety, security, strength and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen. MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump also spoke to local residents over loudspeakers in a video shared online by supporters.

Trump has previously flirted with the idea of buying the territory from Denmark, arguing that it is of vital national security interest to the United States.

At a press conference at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on Tuesday afternoon, the president-elect again said, “Denmark should back off.”
