History with metal detector recently led archaeologists to the place a Medieval monastery – All thanks to a strange symbol spotted on the old map.
The archeogene, an archeological organization related to the Swedish government, announced the discovery this month. The remains of a monastery were found in a field in Deromein the southwest of Sweden.
In a statement translated from Swedish to English, the archeger attributed the hobby of Göran Bengtsson to specify the place.

While studying 18th-century cards, Bengtson noticed a strange rectangle and put himself in place. The surveyor marked the location as “Klostercullen” or “Manastury Hill” on the map 1760.
After a warning from Bengtson, archaeologists headed to the location to use the radar passing on land (GPR) to supply the place. GPR can show things hidden in the country – and revealed the walls of the “likely” ruins of the monastery.

“I’ve never seen anything like it.”
The weather conditions also assisted archaeologists. Bengtson found traces of a dry summer day monastery.
