It is the picture of domestic bliss.

The Duchess of Sussex, picking flowers, cutting leaves and decorating cakes in a trailer. his new Netflix show.

There is also a scene where she harvests honey, and hugs her husband, Prince Harry.

Meghan, it seems, has made a name for herself again. Her new look has been described by public relations expert Chloe Franses as the equivalent of a “business woman”. social media cultureinspired by the housewives of the 1950s.

In this way, it is a departure from Meghan, who is known as a feminist and a Hollywood actress.

But Frances says it’s going back to Meghan’s roots, as the duchess was a lifestyle blogger before marrying Harry.

And as with Meghan, it’s divisive. Franses praises it as “authentic,” while Alex Silver, a marketing expert, calls it “tone deaf”.

So why will her new TV show, It’s Love, work?

One of the most interesting things about the trailer is that it’s Meghan alone, not Harry.

Since stepping down as members of the royal family in 2020 and moving to California, the pair have pursued various ventures, including starting a production company and a charity foundation.

But with this new show, it looks like the couple wants to do their thing professionally — and create two different ways to make money.

Pauline Maclaran, professor of marketing and consumer research at Royal Holloway, said: “It seems to have separated their brands.

“I think it’s going to be very successful, because I think both of them weren’t being recognized as strongly.”

Moving away from royal connections

Reestablishment also means leaving royal life.

Since becoming senior royals, Harry and Meghan have continued to talk about the kingdom – including in their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview and Harry’s spare book.

But in this new TV show, Meghan “is no longer taking on her royal ties,” says Maclaran.

Instead, it focuses on lifestyle and health – areas she had explored before meeting Harry through her blog The Tig.

On The Tig, Meghan shares beauty, food and fashion tips, recipes, travel advice, and words of wisdom about love and life.

Tig was shut down in 2017, but PR experts have suggested that a return to life would be a smart move.

“This is a well-oppressed way for women in the eyes of people who have lives that struggle with ambitions and challenges,” says Franses.

Others are more skeptical.

“There are a lot of world events going on, which he might be talking about,” Silver says. “They may be raising awareness about charity or something.

“I think he’s on his own. As a journalist, I don’t understand how he can’t read a room.”

Experiments in the living world have also caused problems for some in the public eye.

Brooklyn Beckham’s first photo book was mocked around on TVfor example – it’s one picture of an elephant getting angry.

‘It affects his business interests’

This isn’t the first time Meghan has ventured into business – a business that carries both risk and reward.

The pair’s previous business ventures include a multi-million pound deal with Netflix.

They appeared in another Netflix show, called Harry & Meghan, about their relationship. Both were also cited as contributors to Polo’s latest documentaries, but were dismissed by critics including The Guardian and The Telegraph.

Spotify’s big bet on Meghan has also gone down.

In July 2023, the streaming giant and the Sussexes’ Archewell Audio announced that they would part ways.

At that time, experts said There aren’t enough listeners for Megan’s Archetypes podcast to justify it.

Last March, they launched a new lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard. It currently has over 600,000 followers on Instagram, and has nine posts since its inception – but no posts since then.

With this new venture, some speculate that Meghan is hoping to open up business opportunities for herself, such as partnerships with supermarkets and brands.

If so, she would be following in the footsteps of others such as Hollywood A-lister Gwyneth Paltrow, with her successful platform Goop.

“These are his business interests,” Silver said.

“They know their money will run out at some point. Their lives are very prosperous, they are mixing and they don’t want to be in a relationship.”

Will it change people’s opinion of him?

When it comes to the new TV show, royal expert Victoria Murphy says “[doesn’t] I think there is every doubt that people will watch it first and do well. “

But he says the real test will be whether it sustains a large following and creates a strong international brand for Meghan outside the kingdom.

Maclaran agrees, saying that he thinks the show will resonate with certain groups of people, especially in the US.

“A lot of people won’t be happy about that but I don’t think that’s her intention – I think she’s trying to find other women like herself.”

Silver, for his part, argues that Meghan is hoping to “get rid of” her brand with the new show.

But he doesn’t think the show can’t resonate with people.

“I can’t imagine this is going to be pretty,” says Silver.

Perhaps what we’re dealing with in the trailer tells us all we need to know about how this latest venture could end.

After it went down on Thursday, thousands of inches were given to them.

The Daily Mail, for example, picked out the details of every frame in the trailer, most of which are not sad.

The Duchess, it seems, has no interest – especially in the British tabloids. But they also have a huge fan base on social media.

To his critics, they would say that this is all glitz and glamor, Hollywood at its worst.

But for her fans, they say it’s good to see her back, and this shows exactly what the royal family is missing.

In a way, this could reinforce whatever people already think about Meghan, on both sides of the debate.
