New Jersey lawmaker faces court after allegedly assaulting agents at ICE facility


New Jersey Ambassador Lamonica McIver will perform on Wednesday after being accused earlier this month of attacking two federal agents in custody of the immigrant custody in Newark.

On May 9th, McIver was there with two other members of the congress to do what they claimed to be their surveillance duties that were congress, as well as the Mayor of Newarka Ras Barak, who was then arrested after the incident, but later his charges fell.

The Democrat will now appear before the Judge of the United States in New Jersey County at 11am and read her rights and accusations. The judge will then decide on his bail package.

“I think the accusations are absurd. You know, that’s funny. I was here to do my job together with my other colleagues. We did it before. This is our obligation. In our job description it is to have control of the object. And the whole situation escalated ice,” McIver said during Tuesday CNN.

“The conflict caused homes. Homes came and caused this chaos that we see. It was a very tense situation, but it could have been easy, it couldn’t have happened easily. They had every opportunity not to let it happen. It was very unnecessary. And once again, we were there to do our jobs,” she added. “And if I will be charged with a crime of doing his job, it only talks about where we went to this country that we deal with leaders and as members of the Congress, you know, here in this country.”

McIver rejected the accusations in a public statement, claiming they were “purely political”.

Prosecutors said that McIver helped create a “human shield” and blocked agents to fox barracks after neglecting numerous warnings to leave the property and was told he would be arrested.
