“As chief of Baseball surgery, the bad start to our season is ultimately my responsibility,” said Executive Vice President Orioles and Director General Mike Elias in a statement. “Part of that responsibility is severe changes to set a different course for the future.
“I want to thank Brandon for his hard work, dedication and passion of all these years and for the return of the team to the playoffs and winning of the Championship in the Al East. His many positive contributions to this organization and Baltimore will remain, and we and his family want the best.”
Hyde was in his seventh year as a manager of Orioles. He was with a team through the years of renovation, passed 54-108 in 2019 and 52-110 in 2021. Bad seasons allowed the team to get Gunnar Henderson, Jackson Holliday and Adley Rutschman.

Orioles were 101-61 in 2023 and 91-71 in 2024.
The team lost in the Al Division 2023 series and Al Wild Card Series last year.
“Brandon Hyde is someone I met and admired deeply, not only because of his extensive knowledge of a baseball, but also because of his exceptional management leadership,” said Orioles owner David Rubenstein. “I am sincerely grateful for his significant achievements in the last six years, which have greatly used both Oriola and the city of Baltimore.
“However, as sometimes the case in a baseball, the change becomes needed, and we believe that this is one of those moments. Orioles’ organization truly prices all that Brandon contributed to during his term, and we wish him nothing but success in any way that chooses the next in the baseball world.”
