Two dead after plane crashes into California factory

Two people were killed and 18 others injured after a small plane crashed into a commercial building in southern California, officials said.

Ten people were taken to the hospital with injuries, the Fullerton Police Department said in a dispatch on X Thursday afternoon. Eight others were treated for injuries and released from the scene.

The single-engine RV-10 crashed at 14:15PST (20:15GMT), according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Officials did not release details on how the accident happened. It is not clear whether the two dead were crew or aboard the plane.

The police say they are evacuating the houses in the area, and are asking people to stay away from where the accident happened.

Congressman Lou Correa, who represents Orange County, near Los Angeles, said the building involved was a furniture business.

Writing on X, Correa said at least a dozen of the victims were factory workers.

Aerial footage of the incident shows parts of the plane inside the building.

This is the second plane crash in the area in the past two months, according to CBS, the BBC’s US partner.

On 25 November, another plane crashed near the same site from the recent crash. No injuries were reported in the crash.
