Harvard University On Monday, President Alan Garber sent a letter to the Minister of Education Linda McMahon, criticizing the actions of Trump’s administration against the school, noting that both groups share a “common basis” on numerous issues.
“We share a common basis on numerous critical issues, including the importance of ending anti -Semitism and other arrogance in the campus,” Garber said. “Like you, I believe that Harvard must encourage an academic environment that stimulates freedom of thought and expression and that we should accept a multitude of views, and not focus our attention on the narrow Orthodox.”
However, Harvard goals are undermined and endangered by “overcoming the Federal Government in the constitutional freedoms of private universities and its constant disrespect for Harvard’s respect for the law,” Garber said.

“In accordance with the law and our own values, we continue to implement the necessary reforms, doing this in consulting our stakeholders and always in accordance with the law,” he wrote. “But Harvard will not surrender to his core, legally protected principles from fear of unfounded retaliation by the Federal Government.”
Garber’s remarks respond to a thunderous letter from McMahon last week who said to the University that he would no longer be acceptable for federal scholarships for his handling anti -Semitism at the campus.
“Receiving such taxpayers’ means of privilege, not right,” she wrote. “Still, instead of using these funds to improve the education of his students, Harvard deals with a systemic form of federal law violations. Where many of these ‘students come from, who are they, as they enter Harvard, or even to our country – and why so much hatred?”

“These are the questions that must be answered, among many others, but the biggest question of all is why Harvard will not give direct answers to the American public?” She added.

In his letter, Garber cited some of the actions that Harvard had taken in solving the campus problem, including installing new deans and clarification of the school discipline structures and procedures. He noted that Harvard, like many universities, had to do on encouraging the intellectual diversity in the campus.
Garber also pushed McMahon’s claims that Harvard was a “partisan” institution.
