India and Pakistan announce ceasefire

On Saturday, the United States, India and Pakistan said that the two South Asian countries have agreed on the ceasefire to end their worst battle for more than two decades.

US President Donald Trump has claimed credit for the agreement on a social media post.

Trump wrote about his social media portal Truth Social, “After a long night of US media mediation, I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and instant ceasefire,” Trump wrote about its social media portal Truth Social. “Congrats on both countries to use common sense and great intelligence. Thank you for your attention on this topic!”

Pakistan was the first between the two countries to confirm Trump’s statement. Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar wrote in a social media post that the two countries “agreed to the ceasefire with the immediate influence”.

He wrote, “Pakistan has always tried for peace and protection in the region, not compromising its sovereignty and regional integrity!”

India also said that in recent days, the airline had agreed to stop the battle that they fired two countries missiles to each other.

In a briefing in New Delhi, Indian Foreign Minister Vikram Egypt said: “The Director General of Pakistan’s military operation called the Director General of India at 4:00 pm this afternoon.”

“They agreed that both sides would stop all the fights and military steps on the land and the air and the sea from 17:00 hours today.”

He added: “Instructions have been given on both sides to implement this understanding.”
