Denmark PM says ‘you cannot spy against an ally’ following reports of US spying on Greenland

Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Friday that you “can’t spy on the Allies” in response to reports that the United States gathered intelligence in Greenland, as US President Donald Trump continued to suggest the purchase of the Arctic Island.

“The collaboration of defense and deterrent and security in the northern part of Europe is becoming more and more important,” Frederixen told Associate Press. “Of course, you can’t spy the allies.”

Frederixen made comments while Denmark and Grenland withdrew Trump’s desire to gain an autonomous Danish territory, emphasizing that it was not for sale. Trump, however, did not exclude that the military force had taken him, despite Denmark NATO was an ally.

The Greenland Prime Minister says the island cannot be bought, now they were not respected “

“I don’t exclude that. I’m not saying I’m going to do it, but I don’t exclude anything,” Trump said earlier this week during an interview at NBC News “Meet The Press”.

“We need Greenland very bad. Greenland is a very small amount of people, which we will take care of and we will appreciate them all, but we need that for international security,” he added.

The Danish Prime Minister’s statement on Friday followed the day after Denmark called the top American diplomat in the country to explain to the Wall Street Journal report on several senior officials under US director of the National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, directing intelligence managers to collect information about this Greenland independence movement and views of the extraction of American resources on the island.

The head of the American Embassy head in Copenhagen, Jennifer Hall Godfrey, met with Danish diplomat Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen at the Danish Foreign Ministry, although the details of the meeting were not published.

Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said Greenland Newspaper Sermitsiaq that spy reports in the US are unacceptable and disrespectful.

Last month, Nielsen said that Greenland “would never, never, be a property that only anyone can buy” and that “conversations from the United States were not respected.”

Trump says it’s not ‘trolling’ about grenland acquiring in Canada as 51.

Gabbard’s office She announced a statement saying that she had sent three “criminal” recommendations to the US Ministry of Justice for missing the intelligence community in response to a report from Wall Street Journal, in which she stated two sources familiar with the issue.

“Wall Street Journal should be ashamed of helping deep state actors who seek to undermine the president by politicizing and leaking classified information,” Gabbard said. “They violate the law and undermine the safety and democracy of our nation.
