Fiji rugby star dead after train accident

Josaia Rasuqe, a rugby star who housed Fiji on Fiji on Paris Olympics, Died after the train allegedly hit his vehicle while driving to training.

Ragbi Club RaisuqeCanstres, confirmed his death on Thursday. He was 30 years old.

“Castres Olympique is in mourning,” the club said in a statement on his website. “We found out with heavy hearts this morning about the death of our player Josaia Raisuqe in a car accident.

“The whole family of CO is devastated by this terrible news. Josh was a member of the club since 2021. He was a wonderful teammate, who everyone loved everyone, including the Canstres fans who accepted him.

The death of Raisuqe shocked the Canstres supporters, who paid tribute to him just hours after his death. They were allegedly in the presence of his wife, while hundreds gathered in front of the Pierre-Fabre stadium, Castres’ home, to mourn Raisuqe.

Raisuqe was part of the Fiji team in Pariswho finished second in the Olympic Games to earn a silver medal. He is responsible for attempting against the United States while playing the pool, and for Fiji he started against France in the Gold Medal match.

Raisuqe has been playing professionally in France since 2015, joined by the Top 14 Stade Francais champions that year. Raisuqe also played for Nevers, a meeting of another division.

He became so excited after his victory in 2021, raised the judge over his head when he blew the final whistle, and a red card was published for the incident.

Raisuqe became Flanker for Canstres 2022, when the team made the finals of the Top 14.

“He was a glittering boy on and off the field, a pillar of the Fiji community we have at the club and we are very attached to,” Castres Pierre-Yves Revol said in a statement.

“It is also difficult not to mention the faith of all these (Fiji) players and Josaia at this point. My thoughts are with his fiancé and his entire family.”

Raisuqe last played on the wing for Canstres less than two weeks ago.
