The announcement “Habemus Pope” or, “We have a Pope” will be made from St. Peter’s Basilica Basilica. It will then be followed by Pontiph’s name of baptism in Latin, along with his selected Pope’s name and meaning.

“In the deepest recesses of their mind, when they start a conclave, everyone will enter the name in their heads,” said Natalia Immoperators-Lee, president of religious studies at Manhattan University, said Associated Press.
Most of the first 1,000 years of the Church, the pope used their names, although the first exception was Roman to Mercurius in the 6th century, which was appointed by the pagan god and chose the name John II.
The adoption of the name has become a common practice during the 11th century, the period of the German Pope who chose the names of the early bishops from “The Wish to Mark continuity,” the Reverend Regoli, a historian at a pontifical pontifical university, told Wire Service.

It was not until the mid -20th century that the new pope began to choose the names that signal the direction of their papacy, Regoli added.
“Even now, while we are waiting for a new pope, the name we will present will help us to understand the horizon that he wants to continue on,” Regoli said.
Names such as urban and innocent for centuries have not been used, and the imperial-lee said he did not think anyone would choose the latter, given the abuse and scandals that were rocking the Church.

“I don’t think it would be the right choice,” he said.
The latest selected names include Francis, Benedict and Ivan Paul.
AP said Francis signaled the papacy Focused on those who are often seen as outsiders, including the poor, prisoners and the LGBTQ+community, while promoting peace, brother and environmental care.

Benedict, which was elected in 2005, was chosen because he wanted to pay tribute to the Benedict XV, which led the Catholic Church during the First World War and dedicated himself to the healing of war wars.
Ivan Paul has chosen his name, signaling dedication to reforms, including putting Latin Mass in favor of local languages and other faiths, which is the most important Judaism.
But it is still a new pope choice to choose a name that has never been used before.
“This would open a new season and it could mean that his program is not in line with any of his predecessors, so he is an even more personalized program,” Regoli said.

The Imperor-Lee proposed another name that could signal a continuation of Francis’ heritage: Ignatius, for the founder of the Francis Jesuit Order.
“It would be interesting,” she said. “We never had anyone.”
