Warren Buffett is bullish … on women

In an exclusive essay Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO explains why women key to America’s prosperity.

In the flood of words written just about women and work, the one related and has a lot of important points as I have been neglected. It has to do with America’s future, about which – here is a familiar opinion from me – I am an unqualified optimist. Now entertain another opinion of me: women are a reason why we do well.

Start with the fact that the development of our country since 1776 has been consumed, as before the world is seen. Our secret sauce is a political and economic system that releases the person’s potential to a unique degree. As a result Americans today enjoy many things and services that no one wishes to be just a few centuries ago.

But that is not half of it – or, instead, it’s half of it. America has developed this success while used, in many respects, only half of the talent of the country. For most of our history, women – whatever their abilities – moved to the paths. In recent years we have begun to correct that problem.

Despite the inspiring “all people created together” declaration of freedom declaration, the Supremacy male quickly became constitutional constitution. In Article II, dealing with presidency, 39 delegates signing the document – all men, naturally used male pronouns. In poker, they call a “say.”

Instead, I went out of my mother’s womb, though, my possibilities took my brothers, for I was young! And my brainy, personable, and good brothers don’t. My parents are the same with us, and our teachers will give us the same scores. But every time my sisters will be told further through signs than words – that success for them can be “married.” In the meantime I listened to the opportunities in the world there for me to catch.

So my floor became my brother’s ceilings – and no one thought it was so much that the pattern for for some decades ago. Now, thanks to the heavens, structured obstacles for women fall.

It still remains a barrier: many women continue to impose limits on their own, which speak themselves without achieving their potential. Here, too, have my own experience at first.

So, my boys, what is it for us? Why do we have to be careful if the remaining obstacles facing women break and the houses of the House punched? Don’t think that I believe that the behavior of self-behavior is compressing. Let’s look in turn your own interest.

There is no manager who moves his plants in 80% recovery if steps can be obtained to add output. And no CEO wants man to be male employees who are unstoppable when improving training conditions or work can increase productivity. So take a step further: If the obvious benefits flow from helping the male substance to its potential, why don’t you want to include its counterpart?

Fellow men, taking the boat. The approaching that America comes in full use of talents with all its citizens, the more output of its goods and services.
